ARLEX Molding Solutions

Packaging Injection Molding Solutions

Thin-wall containers, lids, cups, and high-volume packaging may look simple, but lightweight does not mean easy to mold. ARLEX evaluates your product, resin, and output targets to deliver the optimal machine configuration.

Key Evaluation Factors

  • ✓ Clamping Force: Sized by projected area, not part weight alone.
  • ✓ Injection Rate: Fast delivery required for narrow filling windows.
  • ✓ Plasticizing Capacity: Essential screw recovery for short cycle times.
  • ✓ Mold Compatibility: Tie-bar spacing, platen size & opening stroke.

Flow-Length-to-Thickness Ratio (L/T Ratio)

A useful indicator for thin-wall moldability assessment: L/T Ratio = Maximum Flow Length ÷ Wall Thickness. Higher ratios demand faster injection response and precise pressure delivery.

Example: 150 mm Flow Length ÷ 0.75 mm Wall Thickness = 200:1 Ratio

Packaging Applications Covered

Tailored machine parameters based on specific packaging types

Thin-Wall Food Containers

Takeaway boxes, meal-prep containers, and reusable food boxes.

  • Large projected area vs light part weight
  • Multi-cavity high speed filling
  • Balanced cooling for short cycles
Cups & Trays

Beverage cups, takeaway trays, and thin-section containers.

  • High cavity balance requirement
  • Demanding plasticizing capacity
  • Continuous fast screw recovery
Caps & Closures

Water bottle caps, beverage closures, and flip-top caps.

  • High-cavity mold focus
  • Injection repeatability & stability
  • Automated take-out integration
Container Lids

Large-diameter thin lids for containers and pails.

  • High total projected area
  • Clamping force determines machine size
  • Precise rim & seal filling
Buckets & Pails

Paint buckets, industrial pails, and large packaging.

  • Thicker wall sections
  • Focus on platen size & stroke
  • Suitable for General-Purpose machines
Cosmetic Packaging

Jars, cream containers, and personal-care packaging.

  • Aesthetic surface appearance
  • High dimensional consistency
  • Multi-component assembly fit

Machine Selection: General-Purpose vs. High-Speed

General-Purpose Machine

Best suited when production flexibility is required for standard packaging.

  • Conventional wall thickness
  • Moderate filling requirements
  • Lower cavity count
  • Examples: Pails, thick containers, buckets
High Efficiency

High-Speed Machine

Dedicated for demanding thin-wall and ultra-fast packaging output.

  • Significantly reduced wall thickness
  • Long flow paths relative to thickness
  • Rapid cavity filling & short cycle target
  • Examples: Thin-wall containers, cups, lids
