Before starting a horizontal injection molding machine, the following steps should be taken:
(1) Check that all moving parts have lubricating oil (grease) and add sufficient lubricating oil.
(2) Turn on the heating element to heat each section of the barrel. When the temperature of each section reaches the required level, maintain the temperature for a period of time to allow the machine temperature to stabilize. The maintenance time varies depending on the equipment and the requirements of the plastic raw materials.
(3) Add sufficient plastic to the hopper. Depending on the requirements of different plastics being injected, some raw materials are best dried first.
(4) Cover the barrel with the heat insulation cover. This will save energy and extend the life of the heating coils and current contactors.
(5) Check that there is no water or oil inside the electrical control box. If the electrical components are damp, do not start the machine. Maintenance personnel should dry the electrical parts before starting the machine.
(6) Check that the power supply voltage is within acceptable limits; it should generally not exceed ±15%.
(7) Check that the emergency stop switch and the front and rear safety door switches are functioning properly. Verify that the rotation directions of the motor and oil pump are consistent.
(8) Check that all cooling pipes are unobstructed, and circulate cooling water into the cooling water jackets at the oil cooler and barrel end.
